Today was a mix of things, finish off laundry and then a quick look-see at the market down the street. A little late when we went by, so looking forward to really checking it out on Thursday.
Decided to take the little tram that runs thru ‘Vieux Ville’ – old town. Really amazing the amount of history that is here, from the Romans on. Got some good sights on some alleys and such to explore in the next week or so, and of course the main drag – Cours Mirabeau. Also, of note – the tram took us past the “Route des Bieres”, that Dick had checked out yesterday.
Nice dinner at le Novo and picked up a slice of Tarte Tatin to finish off the evening on the terrace watching sunset.

On my fourth attempt over 2 days I finally located the elusive ‘2nd grocery store’ noted in our apartment handbook – go down the 3rd side street, enter what looks like a furniture store, find the escalator in back, and there it is! Worth the effort as their wine selections are outstanding (and cheap).
Tuesday is market day in the square some two blocks from our apartment and things are hopping. I’d estimate some 20+ blocks have been cordoned off for vegetable, food, & craft vendors. Some fantastic sights and smells. Next market is Thursday and we’ll be ready!
After a snack lunch on the terrace we decided to do the tourist tram to give ourselves an overview of the old town. Well worth while as we spotted a number of zones we need to make sure to explore – and a number of places to avoid as they we so clearly touristy.
