I just want to say, that yes – Aix en Provence does have mosquitos, and if you leave the terrace door open late they will invite themselves in and feast on you overnight.
Besides the thrice weekly market, today the Grand Theatre De Provence is having an open house for the public. They are offering back-stage tours of the theatre at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00. We have been looking at this building from our balcony since we have been here, and it is quite intriguing from the outside, so a definite on our list today.
First, however, we must go to the market. Saturdays have a special vibe and some of the street vendors are different. We need to get some more fruit, reload on the olives and check out the Paella guy again. We have also been eyeing up the glacier vendor as well and today we decide to sample his wares. The Pistache ice cream was great.
We attend the 14:00 open house and it is quite surprising how many people are here. Probably around 150 for the tour. They split us into 2 groups and off we go. Unfortunately, no English is spoken here, but it is still a great tour and an amazing building

What started off to be a quiet day in the city turned out to be quite eventful.
It’s Saturday so the local market is much larger than normal and packed. We loaded up with stuff for the next few meals and headed over to the rarely toured ‘Theatre de Provence’ for a free walk-about. The tour is solely in French so we missed quite a few details regarding the building and event details but it’s still pretty cool. From the rooftop, the views are incredible. Well worth the effort.
After a stop at our ‘local’ Le Novo, we head back to the ranch for a nice dinner and evening on the balcony.
