Adios Lima, Hola Ecuador

October 17, 2019November 20, 2019 By 2 Smiths

Transit day today and we’re off to the next leg of our holiday, Galapagos, where we’ll hook up with another two couples.  Dale and Abbi Rabaneck are flying in from Atlanta,  Drew and Traci from Pittsburgh.

It’s another early departure from our hotel Atemporal in Miraflores to the airport.  Samuel, our same greeter, picks us up and makes sure we get checked in for our flight.  The hotel wrapped up some coconut ‘cake’ to take with us for breakfast.  Very yummy.

Once we are checked in, we stop for a small snack and then meet Dale and Abbi at the TGI Fridays.  We have an uneventful flight to Guayaquil.  We are met by the Uncruise people through whom we booked our travel and eventually board a tour bus to the hotel.  After getting settled, the four of us meet up with Drew and Traci for a short walk along the waterfront, followed by an attempt to have drinks.  We step into a very small place and we walk up four flights of stairs to get to the seating area.  Unfortunately, they only serve beer despite having many empty bottles of what were once liquor at the ‘bar’, Dick and Dale order the “Grande’ cerveza – I think they each had a liter bottle of beer.

A short walk from our hotel is a restaurant serving Ecuadorian dishes.  Interesting food – the main thing was a rice and lentil dish and you ordered some type of protein to go with it.  It’s an early evening as we have a morning flight to Isle Baltra.

Hey – it’s us!

As the two of us have travelled over the years we’ve tried to keep a blog going (mainly so we can remember what the heck we did!).  It’s been good fun and a great way to hold on to special memories.
