It’s nice to be back home after a night away. Today we need to do a little laundry while we have breakfast. Dick goes to the boulangerie this morning and brings back a lovely apricot pastry that we split for breakfast along with our yogurt and juice.
Today our target is the Granet Museum, they are hosting a special exhibit of Pablo Picasso and Frank Picibia. It’s an excellent exhibit showcasing the beginning the cubism period of art. Interesting to see what obvious competition was between the two artists.
We also see a few paintings by Cezanne. Interestingly few of Cezanne’s paintings are exhibited in this museum, as the original curator of the museum did not want to exhibit his work -go figure.
A nice walk back and early evening at the house.

We’re back in Aix today and as the forecast was for showers in the afternoon we decided to visit the well-regarded Granet Museum. The hike is a short walk along medieval streets we haven’t explored before. Interesting.
The museum contains major paintings by Degas, Renoir, Gauguin, Van Gogh, and a special exhibit of Picasso’s work. Odd – although Aix is considered the home of and inspiration for Paul Cezanne, little of his art is displayed here. A French thing we guessed.
After a leisurely walk home along the Cours Mirabeau and the requisite aperitif (and people-watching exercise) at a street side café we head back to the apartment to catch up with chores. Tough duty.
